It could be anything whatever suits you. None is better or more entertaining than the other. The major difference between the two is that - while one consumes 3 hrs of your time to put its message across the other consumes 7-15 hours.
Movies have been a major source of entertainment for people since 1894 when Lumiere brother of France invented the art of movie making. We have cinema thriving in industries in almost every country and every state within every country. The appeal of movies is irrefutable. It has been entertaining, educating and enlightening masses since years.

On the other hand, web series have come to the fore just in recent years. With the rise of new media, that is media aided by internet and multimedia devices the youth and younger adults started consuming entertainment on the web on multimedia devices like laptops, cellphones and pads. There are a host of OTT platforms that provide extremely good webseries on par with the best of movies out there.
Both, OTT platforms and movies cost you money.
So based on your convenience you can choose one among the two or both. Why not have best of both the worlds instead of just one?

This can be another take on the same topic.

In my opinion, web series will not kill movie industry fully. But definitely it will impact on number of movies being made. Watching a movie on big screen will be preferred choice for movies made with high end technology such as 3D.
Also web series gives entire gamut to play with while movies are under strict control of sensor. So, it will be obvious for many filmmakers to choose web series due to freedom of expression.
There will be definitely an impact on television industry. Most TV serials produced these days lack quality. Web series has exposed this audience to quality content. In Fact many TV channels are moving to web based apps and services and started promoting these as ‘Watch shows anytime anywhere at your will’ Definitely there will be decline in traditional TV audience and it will get converted to Smart TV or we can say TV content will be available across various platforms and gadgets.
