The 5 Best IP Address Management (IPAM) Software in 2021

An IP address is required for any web-capable device to connect to the internet. If this were not the case, the web servers would not know where to transmit the data you’re requesting. When you send a letter, the IP address serves as the recipient’s return address. Hosts in a corporate network cannot interact unless they have IP addresses. But I’m sure you’re aware of it.

DNS and DHCP are the two protocols responsible for allocating IP addresses to network hosts, respectively, as you’re probably aware. DNS stores addresses, whereas DHCP manages their distribution. That’s great news for network administrators because I can only imagine how much time and effort it would take to issue IP numbers to every network device manually. A single blunder can lead to a network nightmare in which many devices share the same IP address.

  • IP Address Manager by SolarWinds

SolarWinds doesn’t require any introduction. No, I don’t believe that is the case. In their career, just about every Network Admin has come into contact with a SolarWinds product. Their Network Performance Monitor is currently the finest available on the market. The IP Address Management program, on the other hand, is what I’d want to show you today. It’s a great piece of software for managing DHCP, DNS, and IP addresses all from one place. This is a low cost IPAM vendor

  • OpUtilities for ManageEngine

My following recommendation is ManageEngine OpUtils, which is ideal for managing IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. It may also be used to manage the ports on a switch. A single subnet or all subnets in your network can be scanned to see if the IP addresses in those subnets are active using IPAM software. It will let you know if an IP address is reserved or not.

  • IPAM by Infoblox

In addition to IPAM, Infoblox integrates DNS, DHCP, and IPAM into a single user interface to increase IP address management efficiency. In addition to automatically detecting new IP addresses, Infoblox DNS Firewall also performs a virus scan on them. Quarantine is used to keep infected equipment safe.

The primary reason IPAM software is ideal for enterprise-level companies is that Infoblox has been combined with the highly-rated Grid technology of the firm. In either a cloud or on-premises setting, the program will automate various activities related to managing your IP address space. Infoblox is preconfigured to work with every central cloud and virtualization platform out of the box. VMware, Azure, Amazon AWS, Docker, and OpenStack are just a few examples.

  • The GestioIP System

An impressive collection of software wouldn’t be complete without at least one piece of open-source code. GestioIP is an open-source IPAM for IPv4 and IPv6 address management that is web-based and open source. A free-to-use program that doesn’t drain your system’s resources. That seems like something everyone wants.

A robust search option is included in the program, allowing you to find IP addresses or hostnames by typing in the address bar. You may use the exact phrases you’d use in a Google-like internet search engine to do searches. As a result, you can rest easy knowing you’ll always be able to locate what you’re searching for.

  • IPAM BlueCat

The BlueCat IPAM is the last one on our shortlist. All IP Management duties are automated with this program, so you no longer have to utilize a spreadsheet! Auto-detect function analyses your network to discover all connected IP addresses as anticipated by the utility. All IP addresses and associated data are collected into a single repository to make maintenance more exact.
